365 Artwork Challenge: Take Me to The Beach!! – A Practice Using Watercolor Pencil

Yes..!! Take me to the beach!!! It’s been too long since the last time I got to go to the beach… I need a vacation that’s for sure..! haha.. So this Artwork #19 is something that reminds me of beaches; a sea shell!. Since I was a kid I loooveee collecting sea shell and then making it into photo frame or put it in a jar for a decoration. This drawing of a sea shell is also a great practice for me using watercolor pencils.

As you can see from my previous posts that I have made several Gothic-style-drawing and a lot of monochrome-drawings. This time I feel colorful and also I would like to start exploring my Derwent Watercolor Pencils that I purchased recently.

This drawing is made by following the instruction of a tutorial from Shoo Rayner Drawing Channel on Youtube. This guy is totally awesome, you guys should check and subscribe to his channel.

365 Artwork Challenge: A New HOPE for My Country Indonesia

This post is dedicated to my beloved country Indonesia. Today we celebrate another historical moment: The inauguration of our new elected President, Mr. Joko Widodo. Time magazine called him “A New Hope” and I think it suits him perfectly. It’s the first time in my life that I felt proud and hopeful for my country’s president election’s result.

365 Artwork Challenge: “Gargoyle”- My Last Artwork from The Beginner Watercolor Workshop

This the last artwork that I made in the Beginner Watercolor Workshop last week. I just got the chance to post this because I just got back from a trip to my hometown in Pekanbaru (I will post something related to my hometown later). Anyway, for my last artwork in this workshop, I decided to draw and paint a gargoyle. I got excited with the Halloween-themed/Gothic-style-drawing that I thought a Gargoyle will make a great final piece of art for this workshop. It’s challenging because there are so much color tone that I have to differentiate but at the same time Gargoyle is pretty cool to draw;)

Here’s my first try on drawing the gargoyle. I can’t finish the drawing in one session because the details are so complicated:

365 Artwork Challenge: My First Photorealism Animal Painting

This is my first try to make a photorealism painting of a dog. This subject is due to a following tutorial that I saw on the internet. It’s a “Learn hot to draw and paint” by Thaneeya McArdlel. You can find her site here. Her tutorial is so detailed and the step-by-step guide is easy to follow. I really recommend her site to everyone who is a beginner in painting like me.

This artwork #14 is a painting of a dog using watercolor, colored pencils, and watercolor pencils. So it’s a mixed media artwork. The method to draw a portrait or photo is to use a tracing technique. First of all print your photo in a piece of paper (you can see the detailed instruction on the website that I provided above):

365 Artwork Challenge: Another Lily..!!

So, as I said before I will attempt to draw another lily for my artwork #8. This time I try to draw one big lily instead of a whole bunch of them like the last post. This is the exact drawing from a picture I saw in the Martha Stewart Living Indonesia magazine  (November 2013 issue). *sorry for the wrinkly paper;)

This is the picture in the magazine:

I hope I do it justice because I think Lily is one of the most beautiful flower (well, beside rose of course). The watercolor is from Reeves and I used a calligraphy pen and Sumi ink for the “Happy Day!” words.

Have an awesome day guys!

365 Artwork Challenge: Hello October!

Another skipped post 😉 I will make it up by posting a double post today and it’s actually because I’m not really satisfied with this post. As you can see, this is the first day of October and I would like to say goodbye to all the beautiful flowers and welcoming autumn. Although in Indonesia it doesn’t really make any different. I guess I can say we welcome the rainy season today;)
